Working Principle
Your raw materials all have to deal with the same problem: tough cell walls keep important flavonoids inside. Sound turbulence in our ultrasonic flavonoid extraction equipment takes care of this.
How it works:
Step 1: Cavitation Generation
Ultrasound waves with a frequency of 20kHz are sent into your fluid. It makes quick changes in pressure that make tiny gas bubbles.
Step 2: Bubble Collapse
These bubbles burst rapidly close to the walls of plant cells. When things fall apart, they send out powerful shockwaves and tiny jets of force that are strong enough to break cell structures.
Step 3: Enhanced Mass Transfer
Breaking down the cell wall lets the liquid get inside deeply. The boundary layers go away. The flavonoids you want to extract spread out quickly in the extraction medium.
Step 4: Low-Temperature Preservation
In contrast to boiling, the body temperature stays between 40°C and 60°C. Compounds that are sensitive to heat, such as anthocyanins and resveratrol, stay whole, keeping their colour and bioactivity.
This mechanical action that doesn't use heat gives you the highest yield without any thermal damage, which is something that standard extraction methods can't do.

Process Flow
1. Material Preparation
Load your botanical raw materials (dried or fresh). Grind to optimal particle size for your specific matrix.
2. Solvent Addition
Add your chosen solvent—water, ethanol, methanol, or blends. Our equipment uses 30–50% less solvent than conventional systems.
3. Ultrasonic Treatment
Activate the titanium sonotrode. Adjust amplitude and power based on your material. Extraction completes in 24–40 minutes.
4. Temperature Control
Integrated cooling jackets maintain stable temperatures. Prevent oxidation and degradation throughout the cycle.
5. Filtration & Separation
Transfer extract to our precision filtration system. Separate active constituents from spent biomass efficiently.
6. Concentration (Optional)
Use our low-temperature vacuum concentration equipment to reduce volume while preserving compound integrity.
7. Solvent Recovery (Optional)
Our integrated closed-loop system recovers up to 95% of ethanol or other solvents. This dramatically cuts your operating costs.
8. Final Product
Collect your high-purity flavonoid extract. Purer residues mean easier downstream purification and higher overall economic benefit.
Application Fields

Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Get flavonoids like Ginkgo flavone glycosides and Silymarin that are safe for use in medicine. Meet the standards for potency set by the pharmacopoeia for regulated herbal drugs. Our design that doesn't allow explosions makes sure that handling ethanol safely in controlled settings.
Nutraceutical Production
Get back Hesperidin, Naringin, and Quercetin from grape seeds, berries, and orange waste. To make waste streams useful, add our flow-cell reactors to processing lines that are already in place. Make food products as antioxidant-rich as possible.
Cosmetic & Skincare
Get anthocyanins, resveratrol, and catechins out of the plant to use in anti-aging creams and serums. Sub-ambient extraction (<25°C) stops oxidation, which keeps the colour stable and gives final products a longer shelf life.
Functional Food & Beverage
Make natural flavour boosters and colourants. Cold extraction keeps the fresh notes and gets rid of the off-flavors that come from cooking that are common with heat processes.
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Effectively get the active ingredients out of plant mixtures that are complicated. One platform can be used for various extraction processes, such as UAE, hot reflux, and alcohol precipitation.
Research & Development
Scale confidently from lab beakers to pilot production. Our power-per-volume (W/mL) scaling method ensures consistent results across all volumes.
Quality Certification
Xi'an Bioland maintains rigorous quality standards:
- CE Certification: Health and safety rules in Europe were followed
- Quality management systems have been checked for ISO certification.
- ATEX Certification: Equipment that won't explode for dangerous places
- IECEx Compliance: Protection against international electrical explosions
- GMP Compliant: The design, materials, and function all meet the standards for making medicines.
- The FDA's rules: Equipment that can be used in production settings controlled by the FDA
Before it is sent out, each unit goes through Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). You get pictures and videos of the check in great detail for approval. Our promise of quality is backed up by detailed documentation and ongoing expert help.

FAQ
Q: Can I scale from laboratory testing to full production without efficiency loss?
A: Absolutely. We use power-per-volume (W/mL) scaling methodology. When you optimize parameters in a beaker, we replicate identical conditions in industrial flow-through reactors. Your extraction profiles remain consistent across all scales.
Q: Will ultrasound damage delicate flavonoid molecules?
A: No. While cavitation creates microsecond localized hotspots, bulk temperature stays controlled via cooling jackets. Research shows ultrasound actually yields higher antioxidant activity compared to prolonged thermal maceration.
Q: How often do titanium sonotrodes need replacement?
A: In 24/7 heavy-duty operation, expect 3–6 months before erosion affects tuning. Regular surface polishing extends lifespan. We provide replacement schedules based on your specific intensity settings.
Q: Is your equipment safe for flammable solvents like pure ethanol?
A: Yes, when you specify our explosion-proof configuration. Standard units require ATEX/IECEx certified transducers and purged enclosures for ethanol or methanol extraction environments.
Q: How does this compare to supercritical CO2 extraction?
A: CO2 extraction works well for non-polar compounds but requires massive capital investment. Our ultrasonic equipment costs significantly less, operates more simply, and performs better for polar and semi-polar flavonoids using water-ethanol mixtures.
Q: What maintenance does the system require?
A: Routine maintenance includes sonotrode surface inspection, cooling system checks, and periodic amplitude calibration. We provide detailed maintenance protocols and remote technical support throughout your equipment's lifetime.
Q: Can you integrate this into our existing production line?
A: Yes. We offer complete turnkey integration services—workshop planning, equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and operator training. Our engineers work directly with your facility team.
