Herbal Extraction Unit - Advanced Botanical Processing Solution
The engineers at Xi'an Bioland Instrument have been creating industrial-grade extraction systems for more than 15 years. Our herbal extraction unit gives 50–500% higher results than traditional methods. It works at safe low temperatures of 40–60°C to protect chemicals that break down when heated. Each system fully complies with GMP and FDA standards and can be equipped with 316 stainless steel contact parts if desired. It is also completely explosion-proof so that solvents can be handled safely. You'll be more productive and keep the valuable phytochemicals intact because extraction rounds can be finished in just 24–40 minutes, cutting processing time by more than two thirds. Certifications from CE, ISO, UL, SGS, ATEX, and IEC show that the quality is good.

Working Principle
Controlled solvent interactions help your plant raw materials get extracted effectively. As the system works, a heated liquid is pumped through the plant material inside the extraction tank.
Allowing for gentle stirring keeps the liquid in contact with the plant cells, which increases the transfer of active chemicals. By keeping the temperature precisely controlled, the jacketed tank keeps sensitive ingredients from breaking down due to heat.
Integrated filtering gets rid of any solid leftovers left over after extraction is done. The extracted material is then concentrated, and the solvent is recovered at low temperatures through vacuum extraction. This closed-loop system conserves solvents while improving the efficiency of separation.
Cavitation bubbles are made by optional ultrasound help that break down plant cell walls, greatly increasing dissolution rates and shortening working time. Assuring uniform results from batch to batch, the automated PLC system keeps an eye on temperature, pressure, and timing factors.

Process Flow
Step 1: Material Loading
Load your dried botanical materials into the extraction vessel through the top-mounted charging port.
Step 2: Solvent Addition
Bring in the right amount of your chosen liquid, which could be water, ethanol, or a mix of the two. Different liquid polarities can work with the setup.
Step 3: Extraction Cycle
Turn on the cooking and stirring. The unit stays at the setting you set while the solvent flows through the plant material. Ultrasound sounds can be used to improve the transparency of the cell wall.
Step 4: Filtration
Put the extract through built-in filters to separate the liquid from the dead plants. Automatically, the residue drains out through the bottom valve.
Step 5: Concentration

The filtered extract is sent to the concentration unit. Vacuum distillation, which happens below 60°C, gets rid of the extra liquid while keeping the bioactive chemicals safe.
Step 6: Solvent Recovery
Vaporized solvent passes through dual condensers, returning to the collection tank for reuse. This reduces operating costs and environmental impact.
Step 7: Collection
Your concentrated extract discharges for further processing or packaging. The system then undergoes automated CIP cleaning if equipped.
Application Fields

Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Get the active pharmaceutical chemicals out of plants using a herbal extraction unit for medicine. To make standardized products like artemisinin, paclitaxel, and alkaloid compounds, our methods have to pass strict validation tests.
Nutraceutical Production
Handle a lot of plant parts to make dietary products. Standardize the amounts of curcumin, ginsenosides, resveratrol, and other useful ingredients so that there are less than 50 parts per million of solvent left over.
Cosmetic Ingredients
For high-end skin care products, separate essential oils, plant oleoresins, and herbal actives. Operating at low temperatures protects delicate scent profiles and stops rusting.
Food & Beverage Industry
Get natural flavourings, colourants, and useful ingredients out of the food. For clean-label goods, our equipment works with stevia, propolis, capsaicin, and mushroom extracts.
Research & Development
Before going into mass production, laboratory-scale units help develop methods and improve processes.
Quality Certification
Xi'an Bioland Instrument holds comprehensive certifications that demonstrate our commitment to quality and safety:
- CE certification proves that the product meets European safety and health standards
- ISO certification: following the quality management system
- Manufacturing and design meet the standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
In the plant, all pressure tanks are put through a lot of tests, such as hydrostatic pressure holding tests and vacuum leak detection. We give you full material tracking reports for all wetted parts to make sure you get equipment that was built to your exact specifications.

FAQ
Q1: Can your unit handle heat-sensitive botanical compounds?
Absolutely. Our vacuum distillation capability lowers solvent boiling points, enabling extraction at temperatures as low as 40°C. This preserves thermolabile compounds that would degrade at higher temperatures.
Q2: How quickly can I complete an extraction cycle?
Most extractions finish within 24–40 minutes, depending on your material and target compounds. This represents a time reduction of over 66% compared to traditional maceration methods.
Q3: Do you support different solvent types?
Yes. Our units accommodate water, ethanol, mixed solvents, and organic solvents. We use PTFE and compatible seal materials that resist swelling across various solvent polarities.
Q4: What safety features prevent solvent explosions?
Every system includes explosion-proof motors, intrinsically safe sensors, and optional nitrogen inerting. We design to ATEX Zone 1 and Class 1 Division 1 standards for hazardous area operation.
Q5: Can I clean the unit automatically?
Yes. Optional CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems include fixed spray balls and automated cleaning recipes. Conductivity sensors verify zero residue between batches, preventing cross-contamination.
Q6: What customization options are available?
We offer custom capacity sizing, 316L stainless steel upgrades, dual-ultrasonic configurations, solvent recovery systems, automatic discharge devices, and complete process line integration. Share your requirements, and our engineers will design a solution.
Q7: How do you ensure consistent quality across batches?
Automated PLC control maintains precise temperature, pressure, and timing parameters. This eliminates human variability and ensures reproducible results batch after batch.
Q8: What is your typical lead time?
Standard configurations ship within 5–7 business days. Custom-designed systems typically require 30 business days from order confirmation to delivery.
