Working Principle

Acoustic cavitation science is used in the ultrasound assisted solvent extraction process. When sound waves with a high frequency go through the liquid, they make loops of high and low pressure.

During low-pressure stages, tiny bubbles appear in the liquid. These bubbles get bigger and bigger quickly until they hit a certain point. Then, when the pressure is high, they fall apart fiercely.

Micro-jets, shock waves, and very high shear stress are some of the strong local forces that this collapse creates. These mechanical effects damage the walls of plant cells and break down cellular matrixes.

The disruption makes a huge difference in the amount of surface area that the solid object and liquid can touch. Compounds inside cells release more quickly and fully.

In contrast to heat extraction ways, cavitation does this improvement without keeping the temperature high for a long time. This keeps thermolabile bioactive molecules from breaking down.

The "sponge effect" makes it even more effective—the structure of the material quickly contracts and expands, pushing the solvent deep into the cellular matrixes and releasing the extracted chemicals.
