Extraction Concentration Unit - Advanced Solution for Efficient Extraction & Concentration
Our extraction concentration unit is a state-of-the-art industrial tool that was designed by Xi'an Bioland Instrument Co., Ltd. to combine the solid-liquid extraction and vacuum concentration processes in a seamless way. This closed-loop system uses low-temperature vacuum evaporation technology along with dynamic extraction methods like heat return, ultrasound help, or percolation. The extraction process works 50–500% better than with traditional methods, and it only needs to be done at low temperatures (40–60°C) to protect chemicals that are sensitive to heat. The unit can do extraction rounds in 24 to 40 minutes, which is more than two-thirds less time than before. Our system is built to GMP and FDA standards and can be made of 316L stainless steel if desired. It has full PLC automation for easy operation and explosion-proof setups for handling volatile solvents. The combined solvent recovery is more than 95% efficient.

People work with drugs, plant medicines, useful foods, and cannabis processes, among other things, can use this product. You'll like having a smaller size because you won't have to buy different tools for taking out the oil and drying it. This will help you save a lot of money on tools and office space. When the vacuum is turned on, the pressure drops from 0.05 MPa to 0.09 MPa. This lowers the boiling points of your valuable active ingredients so they don't break down at high temperatures. At the same time, reusing all the time cuts down on the liquid that is needed.

Working Principle
The extraction concentration unit operates through an integrated four-stage process that maximizes efficiency while protecting product quality:
Stage 1: Dynamic Extraction

In the extraction room, the raw materials come into touch with the solvent, which can be water, ethanol, or another properly approved solvent. In order to improve mass transfer, the system uses motorized stirring, circulation pumps, or, if desired, ultrasound help. By precisely heating the jacket, the unit stays at the right temperature while the active chemicals dissolve into the liquid phase.
Stage 2: Solid-Liquid Separation
It is filtered to get rid of any solid leftovers left over after the extraction process is done. It moves on to the concentration phase with the clarified extract, while in advanced setups, the spent materials are immediately released.
Stage 3: Vacuum Concentration

Vacuum pumps lower the pressure inside the evaporation room to -0.05 to -0.09 MPa as the clear extract goes in. The boiling point of the liquid drops by a lot, which lets it concentrate at low temperatures between 40°C and 60°C. While the extra liquid quickly disappears, heat-sensitive active ingredients stay the same.
Stage 4: Solvent Recovery
Solvent that has evaporated goes to the condenser system, where it is turned back into a liquid by cold water or a refrigerant. To make things last longer and save money, the restored solvent is collected in a collecting tank so it can be used again. The ecological effect and running costs are kept to a minimum by this closed-loop design.
An enclosed system keeps the whole process from rusting, contamination, and volatile chemical loss, which are problems that often happen with older methods that use open vessels.

Process Flow
Preparation → Loading → Extraction → Filtration → Concentration → Recovery → Discharge
- Material Preparation: Before they are used, raw materials are sized down and checked for quality.
- While materials are being loaded, they come into the extraction room through ports on top or automatic filling systems.
- Addition of Solvent: The solvent goes into the chamber in precisely measured amounts based on the needs of your recipe.
- Cycle of Extraction: For 24 to 40 minutes, the system keeps the goal temperature and an extra ultrasonic frequency.
- Inline filtration: The extract goes through filter screens with mesh sizes that can be changed to get rid of particles.
- Vacuum Concentration: A clear extract is concentrated in a vacuum oven at a fixed temperature.
- The process of solvent condensation turns vapours back into liquids in high-efficiency condensers with extra cooling steps.
- Solvent Collection: The recovered solvent is kept in special tanks so that it can be used in new runs.
- When the concentrated product is done, it is sent to storage boats or further processing.
- For CIP cleaning, approved cleaning processes are carried out automatically by spray balls between batches (if equipped).
This streamlined workflow reduces manual handling, cross-contamination risks, and labor costs while ensuring consistent batch-to-batch quality.
Application Fields

Pharmaceutical & Herbal Medicine Manufacturing
From plants, get alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, and carbohydrates. Because the processing is done slowly, bioactive chemicals that would break down in standard boiling ways are kept intact. Best for making uniform products that meet the requirements of pharmacopoeia.
Functional Food & Nutraceutical Production
Keep vitamins, antioxidants, and volatile aromatic chemicals in fruit drinks, veggie extracts, and plant supplements while concentrating them. People like your end goods because they taste great and have a lot of nutrients.
Cannabis & Hemp Processing
Use ethanol or hydrocarbon extraction and then remove the solvent efficiently. During processing, the vacuum system quickly removes solvents without decarboxylating cannabis too soon, so your goal cannabinoid profiles are kept.
Essential Oil & Oleoresin Production
Get the subtle scents from flowers, herbs, and spices. The low temperature concentration stops the loss of terpenes, so your essential oils and oleoresins will have real scents.
Cosmetic Ingredient Preparation
Get the active organic ingredients out of plants for skin care products. The clean design and paperwork meet beauty GMP standards, and the gentle processing keeps the ingredients' effectiveness.
Food & Beverage Flavor Concentration
Make natural flavour concentrates, liquid spices, and quick tea powders. The closed system keeps volatile flavour molecules from oxidizing, and the efficient evaporation uses a lot less energy.
Quality Certification
Xi'an Bioland Instrument maintains rigorous quality standards verified through international certifications:
- ISO Quality Management Certification: Systematic quality control throughout design, manufacturing, and testing phases
- CE Compliance: Meeting European safety, health, and environmental protection requirements
- Additional Certifications Available: UL, SGS, ATEX (explosion-proof), and IEC electrical safety standards upon request

- Pressure Vessel Testing: Each unit is put through a hydrostatic pressure test at 1.25 times the original pressure.
- Vacuum Integrity Testing: 24-hour hold tests show that there is no escape at working vacuum levels.
- Checking the Surface Finish: Measuring the Ra value makes sure that the clean polish meets pharmaceutical standards
- Testing for functional performance: Before shipping, make sure that practical tests are done to confirm the extraction and concentration performance.
FAQ
Q: How does your unit prevent degradation of heat-sensitive ingredients?
A: The vacuum system lowers solvent boiling points dramatically. Water evaporates at approximately 60°C under vacuum instead of 100°C at atmospheric pressure. This gentle processing protects thermally unstable compounds like certain vitamins, enzymes, and plant polyphenols from denaturing.
Q: Can this equipment handle explosive solvents like ethanol or hexane?
A: Yes, with our explosion-proof configuration. We equip units with ATEX or NEC-rated motors, control panels, and sensors that eliminate ignition sources. Proper grounding, inert gas blanketing, and explosion-proof electrical components ensure safe operation with volatile organic solvents.
Q: What solvent recovery rate can I expect?
A: Our standard dual-condenser configuration with chiller support typically achieves >95% solvent recovery. This dramatically reduces your ongoing solvent costs and environmental disposal requirements. The recovered solvent maintains sufficient purity for reuse in subsequent extraction batches.
Q: Is the unit compatible with automated cleaning systems?
A: Absolutely. We offer CIP (Clean-In-Place) configurations featuring 360° rotary spray balls and self-draining piping geometry. This design ensures complete surface coverage during automated cleaning cycles, supporting validation protocols required for GMP and FDA compliance.
Q: What's the difference between static and dynamic extraction modes?
A: Dynamic extraction employs circulation pumps or mechanical agitation to continuously move solvent through the material bed. This increases the mass transfer rate and solvent penetration, reducing extraction time by 30–50% compared to static soaking methods where materials simply steep in stationary solvent.
Q: How long does customization take for specialized applications?
A: Custom-engineered units typically require 30 business days from design approval to completion. This timeline includes engineering drawings, material procurement, fabrication, assembly, testing, and quality documentation. Standard configurations ship within 5–7 business days.
Q: Do you provide installation and training services?
A: Yes, our turnkey services include workshop planning consultation, equipment installation supervision, operational commissioning, and comprehensive technical training for your staff. We ensure your team fully understands operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
