Steam Distillation Mode
The extraction basket is full of 20 to 40 mesh chips of sandalwood heartwood. In 48 to 72 hours, low-pressure, high-volume steam makes its way through the dense lignocellulosic matrix. Heat lets volatile sesquiterpenes out from deep inside the wood cells. Voids that are rising go into the shell-and-tube condenser, where they cool down and separate. Because sandalwood oil has different densities, the special Florentine flask form can collect both lighter and heavier oil parts. Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction (UAE)
