Steam Distillation Mode
The extraction basket is full of 20 to 40 mesh chips of sandalwood heartwood. In 48 to 72 hours, low-pressure, high-volume steam makes its way through the dense lignocellulosic matrix. Heat lets volatile sesquiterpenes out from deep inside the wood cells. Voids that are rising go into the shell-and-tube condenser, where they cool down and separate. Because sandalwood oil has different densities, the special Florentine flask form can collect both lighter and heavier oil parts. With this method, you can get the standard sandalwood scent that you know from traditional perfumes.
Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction (UAE)
